Jacqulyn Hamilton started her journey into photography during the pre internet days of the 1980’s, after being given an antique camera ‘to play with’ by her Father.
It’s easy to forget how bored children must have been in these times without the immediacy and connectivity of today, photography was both a medium of creativity and escape.
Jacqulyn’s early works are heavily portrait, land and seascape based, attesting to many hours of trial and error whilst enjoying both 35mm and 120mm Film format cameras.
Jacqulyn went on to study Architecture in Western Australia, and always defaulted to using a photographic Medium to represent her work.
After her education, Jacqulyn briefly turned to the medium of oil painting. Her painterly style was always heavily influenced by the extremes of shadow and light, and their effects on colour and the surfaces that they fell upon. Her contemporary painterly works were highly sought after and sold to social businesses all over Sussex.
Jacqulyn’s work and future business naturally evolved from this point into her first love of Photography.
The immediacy of the photographic medium, coupled with a love of post production was absolutely irresistible. After re training as a professional photographer and beginning a job with Google Images (in its earliest form) a life long love and obsession finally became a profession.
Now working professionally for over 17 years, Jacqulyn’s work is timeless, elegant, passionate and creative. Jacqulyn’s first love of Portraiture and the study of natural light on a Human face is all encompassing, and this translates effortlessly into beautiful photographic works.
Jacqulyn is based on the South Coast of the UK in Brighton and is available for both National and International Clients.
